The Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra is going to look very different from the other S22s, at least according to rumors. This new alleged photo leak is the back plate of the Galaxy S22 Ultra.

The unverified image has appeared on the Chinese social network Weibo (via Android Authority). It shows a black back plate with five holes arranged in a P-shape. Presumably the rear camera lens and flash would peek through these holes.

The design is different from the one shown in previous alleged leaks. In this supposed mold of the 3D model, the rear module has a P-shaped cutout:

The Galaxy NoteUltra?

Based on everything we've seen so far, the Galaxy S22 Ultra is shaping up to be a replacement for the Galaxy Note. Remember that there was no Galaxy Note 21 and the Note 22 seems unlikely.

It is rumored that this Galaxy S22 Ultra will come with a slot for the S Pen and a flatter design similar to the original Note more than the other two Galaxy S22 phones. There are rumors that the Galaxy S22 Ultra could be renamed the Galaxy Note 22 Ultra.

We will have to wait to see how many of these rumors and predictions are correct. We originally thought that the Galaxy S22 series would launch in January 2022, but they could end up arriving a little later.

Analysis: the Galaxy S22 are going to be interesting

Like almost all companies (except Apple) Samsung has had a difficult 2020 and 2021. Now, it could come back with a bang in 2022 and the Samsung Galaxy S22 series.

It looks like the Ultra edition is set to further differentiate itself from the pack in 2022. Maybe that will coincide with a name change to emphasize its position as a replacement for the Note, or maybe it won't. We do not know and there is nothing confirmed, naturally.

With the iPhone 13 and Pixel 6 very strong in the market and in the minds of consumers, thanks to their custom processors and cameras, Samsung will have to work hard with the Galaxy S22 series. It's your only chance to get back to the front row with new chips and screens.
