After Samsung and Google announced the merger of their respective operating systems for watches, Samsung has revealed a glimpse of what the future interface of the Samsung Galaxy Watch will be like: One UI Watch. More modern, minimalist and compatible with Wear OS applications.

It was one of the most important news of the past Google I/O, almost at the same level as the first beta of Android 12. Unite Tizen and Wear OS under a single platform? It seemed like an impossible announcement, but no: it was real. Not only that, Samsung has already unveiled the first look at the future watch interface. Apart from executing the fusion between systems, the Galaxy watches will overlay a layer adapted to touch use: One UI Watch. The MWC in Barcelona has been the setting in which to present it.

Google Apps for Wear OS available on the next Galaxy Watch

One of the keys to the Samsung Galaxy Watch was not only in the hardware, very advanced for the average smart watch, but also in the software. Tizen brings great fluidity to the entire system while containing energy expenditure; two of the drawbacks that Wear OS has been dragging almost since its inception. Thanks to the fusion of systems, future smartwatches will experience an increase in speed and a decrease in consumption, always on paper.

Así es la fusión entre Wear OS y Tizen: Samsung presenta One UI Watch, la futura interfaz de los Galaxy Watch

One UI Watch, recently presented, is the layer that Samsung has developed to equip its future Galaxy Watch with Tizen/Wear OS. The interface maintains side-scrolling widgets, offers the usual control gestures, and is refined in style with a small leap forward in design.

The new interface of the watches works on the fusion of systems reducing the consumption of the watches, always in the words of Samsung. One UI Watch integrates seamlessly with Samsung devices to reflect changes made on the phone to the watch. Also, apps from the Galaxy Store continue to be available; To which are now added those of Google Play for Wear OS, which can also be downloaded to the Samsung Galaxy Watch.

Watchface maker powered by Samsung

Apart from the refined skin, and support for dual apps (Tizen and Wear OS), Samsung provides developers with a watchface creator that promises to expand the quality and variety of watch faces in future watches with the combination of systems. Additionally, Samsung will offer a nice collection of watch faces with One UI Watch; To which all those already available in the Galaxy Store and Google Play will be added, at least in principle.

We do not know when we will see the first watch with the combination of Tizen and Wear OS that also equips One UI Watch. Surely they are the next Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 and Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 4, which have been rumored for some time. We will still have to wait to meet them.
