Samsung has options for those who are looking for a new phone but don't want -or can't- pay the high cost from a premium device. The company launched in the United States the Samsung Galaxy A6, a phone with a large screen and features that are firmly in the mid-range section of the market. It appears to be designed to offer a lower-cost option that complements the higher-end Galaxy S9 and Note 9, but at the same time is better than the J3 and J7 that are also now available.

Galaxy A6 Phone

The Galaxy A6 packs decent power with a 1.6Ghz Exynos 7884 octa-core processor and 3GB of RAM. It has plenty of room for media and apps with 32GB of internal storage, and even more with support for MicroSD cards up to 400GB. Plus, its 3,000mAh battery should easily last for at least a day. One drawback is that it has a MicroUSB port at the bottom, which may be a disappointment for anyone who, thinking ahead, would have preferred USB-C.

At this price point, you won't get Galaxy S levels of style, but the Galaxy A6 still looks pretty good. It doesn't have curved glass on the front, there's a slight border around the screen, and a noticeable top and bottom bezel. On the back you'll find a single camera lens, and a Galaxy S9-style fingerprint sensor.

The screen only goes up to 720p HD, but makes up for it with a Super AMOLED Infinity Display. Samsung's displays have been some of the best on the market recently, and we expect the Galaxy A6 to show off some dark colors and vibrant colors.

The rear camera has a 16-megapixel lens with an f/1.7 aperture and an LED flash. That large aperture should mean the Galaxy A6 performs well in low light. The front selfie camera is also a 16-megapixel lens, but with a slightly smaller f/1.9 aperture. It should take good selfies though, and it also comes with face unlock support.

The Galaxy A6 runs on Android 8.0 Oreo and Samsung Experience UI. We haven't heard any news about an update to Android 9.0 Pie, but we expect it to come later. Bixby is also included, so this is one of the cheapest ways to experience Samsung's personal assistant, and set it up for the Galaxy Home smart speaker.

The Samsung Galaxy A6 comes in three color options (black, silver, or blue), and will be available in the United States on Samsung's website starting September 14, starting at $360. The phone company options will be announced in the coming weeks.

Tab A Tablet

Samsung also announced the arrival of the Tab A tablet in the US Due to its security features and ease of use, this device is focused to be used by the entire family , and comes with Dolby atmos for surround sound.

It has a 10.5-inch LCD screen and an octa-core Snapdragon 540 processor. It has 32GB of internal storage but can be expanded up to 400GB with a MicroSD card. The battery is 7,000 mAh which is enough for several days with moderate use.

The tablet will be available at Samsung and Walmart stores starting September 14 for $329.99. A Lite version of the tablet will be available from Verizon and Sprint shortly after its official launch.
