The Samsung Galaxy S21 range and other Galaxy Ss use the Snapdragon chip in the US and the proprietary Exynos chip in much of the rest of the world. With the Samsung Galaxy S22, almost everyone could bring the Snapdragon home.

That is what the reliable rumorologist Lanzuk says, who has posted on the South Korean social network Naver that Samsung has had production problems. This means that it won't be able to make as many Exynos 2200 chips as it usually does so most of the world will have a Snapdragon 898 chipset in the Galaxy S22.

Lanzuk has not specified which countries will continue with the Exynos chip. We only know for sure that it is unlikely to be tasted in South Korea.

Same storage, similar cameras

According to this rumorologist, the RAM, storage capacity and design of the Galaxy S22 range will be very similar to that of the Samsung Galaxy S21 range. That would mean 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage on the Samsung Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22 Plus, while the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra would have up to 16GB of RAM and up to 512GB of storage.

According to another leaker — @FrontTron — there will be changes to the battery, as the Samsung Galaxy S22 will have a 3,800 mAh battery — compared to 4,000 mAh for the Galaxy S21. The S22 Plus will be at 4,600 mAh — compared to the current 4,800 mAh — and the Galaxy S22 Ultra would stay at 5,000 mAh. All would suffer a decrease.

As for the camera, FrontTron says that the standard Galaxy S22 and Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus will have a 50MP main sensor, a 12MP telephoto lens, and a 12MP ultraphoto lens. The Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra will have a 108 MP main and a 12 MP ultra lens, along with a pair of 12 MP telephoto lenses. These specifications are slightly different from current models, but for the most part they are on the same level.

Finally, it seems that there will be no camera under the screen in any model of the Samsung Galaxy S22 as there is in the Fold 3.

Analysis: Bad for Samsung, Good for Consumers

Assuming this leak is true, Samsung must not be happy with the poor performance of its factory Exynos 2200 chipset. But this could end up being good news for buyers.

Samsung's flagship phones currently offer different performance depending on the region in which they are purchased. There is a difference in raw power, camera performance and battery life.

In general, Snapdragon options tend to win in comparisons, so this could be good news for all consumers.

On the other hand, perhaps this year this might not be the case with 2022, as reports suggest the next Exynos could be a solid machine.

But regardless of which is the best, the fact that the same model performs differently in different regions is a nuisance and not ideal.

We hope they keep it that way in the future.
