The global presentation of the new Xiaomi Mi 11 has served for us to know more details of MIUI 12.5, the new version of the famous customization layer of these mobiles.

There are some interesting improvements in various areas, but one very curious one has particularly caught our attention: Xiaomi will offer users the ability to uninstall practically any native application pre-installed on devices from this manufacturer that have MIUI 12.5.

If you don't like that native app, get rid of it

We already knew some of the news of the new MIUI 12.5, but Xiaomi has revealed some more notable changes such as a "rewrite" of the user interface that allows memory use to be reduced by up to 20% in these scenarios, the use of CPU of those applications by up to 22% and the power consumption of system applications is also reduced by up to 15%.

Si no te gustan las aplicaciones preinstaladas de tu móvil Xiaomi, con MIUI 12.5 podrás quitarlas sin problemas

This will be noticed, for example, in the way touch gestures are managed, which "compete" for the use of the CPU with other applications. Thanks to the new scheme of this system, these gestures are "prioritized" and MIUI 12.5 makes them have a kind of "highway" so that response times and fluidity are theoretically improved.

However, the most striking thing is in the uninstallable applications. Except for some key applications ("core apps") such as phone, clock, camera or settings, the rest can be uninstalled or even completely removed. Thus, we can uninstall the compass, note editor, weather forecast or calculator, and we can eliminate the theme editor or the file explorer.

This will give rise to any user being able to replace those pre-installed applications with other alternatives that are more to his liking. By announcing this option in Xiaomi, they were comparing themselves with other customizations such as Samsung's OneUI and even other platforms such as iOS 14.2.1 that have some more fully protected applications against uninstallation or deletion.

The deployment of MIUI 12.5 will begin in the second quarter of 2021 for the Mi 10T, Mi 10T Pro, Mi 10, Mi 10 Pro and Mi 11, and later it will also be offered in other models of the firm.
