During a period of approximately two weeks, I had the opportunity to test the new monitor da linha gamer da Samsung, o Odyssey G5 34’’. In less than 15 minutes using the product and my question, it didn't make sense to me. I sincerely would like to never have to use a “small” monitor. The giant 34-ply widescreen fabric of the Odyssey G5 proved to be extremely efficient and more than enough to accommodate the various tasks that I had to perform during a myriad of work, for example, being able to easily organize the valances that I would use during the day ( or for a certain period).

At a 3440 x 1440, the size of the monitor makes it easy to separate the application windows into two (or at the same four) is a simple task and also extremely efficient - even more than using two monitors. Together with disso, the ultrawide screen allows a good division of tasks, being able to also divide the screen in two with each side showing the device connected to DisplayPort or HDMI input through Picture-by-Picture.

Currently, my day-to-day setup has two monitors to facilitate navigation between different sites to be able to perform my tasks more easily and it works very well, but using just one monitor for that is strangely much easier.

The 1000 radius curvature of the Odyssey G5 means that your eyes don't have to travel such a long path to find another fabric, and thus access the necessary information. In order to fully cover your peripheral vision with the curvature, it is much easier to search for that information in your field of vision.

A two big positive points of the monitor are not just its insane configurations, but also the design of itself. With almost non-existent edges that make the useful area of ​​the fabric even larger and a simple button to carry out all the necessary commands to make its configuration, or G5 with certainty leaves its setup still prettier in a minimalist way.

No meanwhile, despite making the setup and the day-to-day routine easier and pleasing to the eyes, the size of the monitor makes it easier for people who do not have a large table for their setup, as in my case, they have some difficulties in installation.

To know that, you have to remanage everything or my setup so that based on the Odyssey G5 it doesn't occupy half of my table - but this can be solved with a monitor mount. In addition, I do not have a way to adjust the height of myself despite having a height that I consider ideal for me.

Possuindo four different inputs on the back for power supply, Display Port 1.4, HDMI 2.0 and an input for audio phones, something that I felt very lacking was a high-falutin even this type of resource is not being so common in monitors .

At one point I wanted to test the monitor like the PlayStation 4, once I thought that the size of the screen would be ideal to play big games like God of War, Homem-Aranha and Bloodborne, but I was disappointed not to be able to hear it. Incredible tracks and sound effects in a high-quality quality.

Despite all gamer (and even someone who would use it to work) having a headset/phone at home, sometimes playing, watching a movie or a show with a loud speaker becomes a much more pleasant experience and it is A resource that I expected that the monitor would have due to the area it occupies on the table, in addition to its price - which perhaps would be two major negative points.

It is also worth mentioning that my experiences watching videos, films or series are not as satisfactory. And the reason was not due to a lack of high-flyers, but rather the fact that these contents do not adapt (as well as some games) to the ultrawide format and it seems that this experience does not have many advantages in relation to a common monitor.

At the moment, I barely have my experience during work and assisting in things like him, but what really matters to you, readers, maybe I will have my experience playing. While I was with the monitor I was able to test the interaction of the same with a variety of games, including Destiny 2, Borderlands 3, Valorant, League of Legends and some others.

Since I said I didn't start, the time I took to adapt to the new monitor didn't take long. Assim that I connected to my computer, quickly it was configured for the best options and with its HDR10 it seemed like everything that was displayed on the prettiest fabric, mainly the games.

The 165Hz and 1ms response time that the monitor provides to the user become extremely important tools in competitive FPS games like Valorant and at the same time in slightly more casual games like Destiny 2. No entanto, one of the biggest disappointments that I have - and it's not the monitor's fault - I was playing some games, like Valorant and Hollow Knight itself, that don't adapt to ultrawide, I have to play with black bars on the side, while titles like CS:GO adapt.

More honestly for me it was something that bothered me just for the first few minutes. Of course, playing with full screen as you did in Destiny 2 is something extremely legal, but it is understandable some games still will not support such high resolutions once the ultrawide format is being included in the few markets and at hertz rates and fast response They were more than enough to make me scratch those black bars.

The monitor settings also come with a number of options for the most diverse game genres ranging from RPG to FPS, where when you choose your gameplay style or whatever voice you want your monitor to adapt to, settings like brightness, sharpness , contrast and others are adjusted for the best experience.

It is true that, shooting the black bars, my experience as a monitor in two games was extremely positive and surprised me a lot.

As I mentioned before, perhaps the cost is the main negative point of the Odyssey G5 once the suggested price is R$ 4,199 thousand, and that we live in a country where equipment with prices like this is not luxury for many people. I understand that the monitor drew up a series of resources that justify the price, but it is not changed or fated to be very salty and heavy for the bag of the majority of the Brazilians.

No meanwhile, it is possible to find other Odyssey line monitors for a slightly more affordable price, but not with the same specifications.

To conclude, I believe that the Odyssey G5 is a good investment for those who are looking for an alternative to get rid of the setup of two monitors and who want a more robust and complete option for day to day, more true than it is All have a question about what the user is looking for in a product.
