Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra: 120x zoom and key details under...

Tests and first impressions of the features highlighted by Xiaomi

According to a rumor published on the Chinese social network Weibo, Xiaomi is working on the new version of its top-of-the-line smartphone, the Xiaomi 12 Ultra. The information was shared by the user “Bald Panda”, this Sunday (31).

According to Bald Panda, one of the main changes lies in the camera system, which will feature a 1/1.5-inch sensor and 5x optical zoom support.

As noted by GizmoChina, the current model, Mi 11 Ultra, offers the same level of optical zoom, however its sensor is smaller (1/2 inch). Increasing the size of image sensors often results in significant benefits for the quality of photographs and videos, resulting in more detailed shots, with less noise and better lighting.

A larger sensor was one of Sony's main bets for its new flagship, the Xperia Pro-I. Advertised by the company as “The camera” on a smartphone, the device is highlighted by its 1-inch sensor, as well as a 6.5-inch OLED screen and Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor.

Our experience with the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra

Zoom, Wide and Ultrawide

Returning to talking about the new Xiaomi 12 Ultra, it was previously speculated that the device could bring a 200 MP camera. However, the information was recently denied, with several leakers pointing to a triple 50 MP set. This point was even corroborated by Bald Panda on Weibo.

Considering that one of these sensors will be paired with a periscope lens (for 5x zoom), the remaining lenses are estimated to be Wide and Ultrawide.

Ultrasonic fingerprint sensor on Mi 12 Ultra?

Ending the rumor mill, the same sources claimed that Xiaomi will use an ultrasonic-type fingerprint sensor on the Xiaomi 12 Ultra. The technology was present in the Mi 5s model, originally released in 2016.

However, since then, the company has opted for optical-type sensors for the smartphone unlocking system through fingerprints.

Launch of Xiaomi 12 Ultra

Although there is no official date for the launch of the Xiaomi 12 Ultra, the device is expected to hit the market in early 2022. By way of comparison, the Mi 11 Ultra model was launched in March this year.

It is important to note that Xiaomi has been working at an accelerated pace of launches. Last week the company even revealed the new Redmi Note 11, a device with impressive technical specifications, including fast charging up to 120W.
