The expansion of the Internet and the evolution of mobile phones has led to the loss of the tradition of calls little by little. So that we are going to fool ourselves, it is much more comfortable and faster to send a WhatsApp.

Despite this, there are still people who prefer to opt for the phone, especially when it is necessary to chat about relevant issues. What many do not know is that these calls can be recorded with certain applications.

It may seem like a small thing, but recording a call can be tremendously useful in some circumstances, it could even help us avoid fraud. We tell you how to record calls on your phone!

Is recording calls legal?

Before going on to explain the matter in depth, it seems necessary to clarify everything related to the recording of calls from a legal point of view. To do this, OMICRONO has contacted Marcos Judel, Audens' lawyer.

Judel explains that recording calls from the mobile is legal as long as we are part of the conversation, although it will also depend on the use that we give to said recordings afterwards.

In this sense, the fact of recording them is not a crime, but it could be if we spread said information. If so, we could incur crimes such as libel, slander or disclosure of secrets. Judel assures that recording calls can be a lifesaver on certain occasions, since it can be used to resolve legal battles in which we are involved.

How to record calls from the phone

Until recently there were many applications that allowed you to record calls from an Android mobile. However, Google got serious about privacy and almost all of them were unusable.

One of the ones that continues to work is Call Recorder. Just search for it in your Android app store, download and install it. Once installed, you will have to grant it the permissions it asks for so that it works correctly, after which it will automatically record all the calls you make or receive.

Every time you enter the application you will see a list with the recorded conversations, where the duration and date are indicated, to reproduce them you will only have to press play. Unfortunately, since the privacy modifications made by Google, we are not informed of the contact with whom we had the conversation in question.

If you have an iPhone, we have bad news, since Apple is even more restrictive than Google when it comes to privacy. There are no free applications that allow us to record and the few that are paid only usually work for a minority of users.

In that case we would have to resort to more traditional methods, such as using a normal recorder while we have the speaker on the phone. If you have a latest generation Apple Watch, you could also use its recorder.

We find it a real shame that today's mobiles do not have basic call recording, since, as Judel told us, it could be very useful. Perhaps Android will end up incorporating this function in the near future, as our colleagues at El Androide Libre explain.
