2021 is coming to an end. There are literally days left in the year, and this is a good time to look back and see what has worked best throughout the season. In this case, which apps are the ones that the Xataka Android team considers to have been the best of the year. The best Android apps of 2021, but ours, not the best in general.

So said and done, we have asked each of our colleagues which app they think has been the best this year. Not only of the apps born in the year but any. Which one have they used the most, which one has been more useful at specific times or which ones do not move from their mobile even if they format it a thousand times. We have asked them and this is what each one of them has told us.

2021 has been a year that is best not taken too seriously, so my favorite app for this year is Wombo. It is an extremely stupid app with which you can create deepfakes with your face -or anyone else's- singing timeless hits like 'I will survive' or 'Dragostea Din Tei'. It doesn't matter if you are 7 years old or 70, after five minutes Goofing around with Wombo, surely you're forgetting that we've been through the pandemic for two years and the incipient collapse of Western civilization, which is no small thing.

One of my star apps for this year 2021 is MoneyBox. There are thousands of apps to set savings goals but, in the end, the simplest are the best. This app is as simple as entering a savings amount, the date on which you want to have that figure and, automatically, it gives you the information on how much money you have to set aside each month to achieve that amount on the date you want.

It also has a very cool widget that tells you the percentage that you have completed with respect to the objective, something quite motivating to continue contributing month after month

The best app I've discovered in the last year (and one of the ones I use the most on a daily basis) is KinderUp. The pandemic has forced nursery schools to do without paper agendas and use digital agendas instead. With KinderUp, parents can keep track of our children's daily activity (naps, meals, temperature, etc. ) and consult the school calendar, circulars, the school menu...

It also offers statistics to check the evolution of the child, sends notifications to the mobile and gives you the possibility to communicate directly with the teachers. But without a doubt, for me, the best function is the gallery, where you can see and download photos and videos of the activities from school.

Carrying the COVID Certificate on the phone seems basic to me today, as well as having a tool with which to check that the certificates are still working (they often deteriorate, at least those printed on paper). To solve both ballots, I trust Corona Warn-App: it is an application promoted by the German Government that not only works very well, it is also safe and open source. Highly recommended.

This application is developed by OnePlus and is suitable for almost any Android (and even for iPhone or computers). Clipt enables an online clipboard with which you can copy and paste texts regardless of the device you are on: once the app is installed, the clipboard is unified. Even with copied files: Clips makes it easy to send documents, photos or videos from mobile to computer (and vice versa). I find it super useful.

The app of the year for me is one that I already knew, but that I haven't started using on a regular basis until a few months ago. This is Todoist, the task app that is currently my main productivity tool.

I was using Notion and although I love the possibilities it offers, the mobile app leaves a lot to be desired. This was the main reason why I decided to change and in this sense Todoist meets with a note. The app is simple, intuitive and syncs perfectly with the desktop version. It is also on all platforms.

The Google TV app is for me one of the best things that 2021 has left us for its great aspiration to become the universal application for our streaming services. In a single place I have access to the series and movies of Amazon Prime video, Disney +, HBO Max and Viki, so you no longer have to search in each of their applications. In addition, it notifies me when a series or movie from my list reaches one of my subscriptions. The only big drawback is that it is not currently part of the Netflix catalog, but it is something that I trust will be solved during the next year.

2021 has been a year of many purposes in many ways, but I think health has been the most important in my case. So since going out has become a risky activity due to the pandemic, I decided to consider getting in shape at home, and I started using dumbbells more. And what do I do with them? I thought. Well, I looked for an app that has accompanied me this year and is called "Dumbbell training at home". It cannot be said that it has good marketing, but it certainly has good SEO.

It is an app with exercise routines already programmed based on what goal you want to achieve, from simple maintenance to becoming the most attractive person in the C-137 universe. In addition, almost everything in it is editable so you can vary weights, number of series, repetitions, introduce other exercises, build custom programs, etc. Without a doubt, highly recommended. I decided to pay (it is voluntary) and I am very happy with it.

At the end of last year I decided to focus all the statistics of the music I listen to on Last.fm, having there what I listen to on Spotify, the digitized FLAC CDs on my computer, or even what I listen to on CD and vinyl on the stereo. . And therefore, the official application of the service has become essential throughout 2021. Whenever I want, I can look at the artists I have listened to the most, the songs or the genres of each week, month or year.

In addition to this, I have also become a Pro user of the service, which generates specific reports every week, month or year where you can see the most listened to genres and albums, and an evolution with all the data. Yes, possibly if you're not a music geek on a sick level you won't care too much about this application despite the fact that the service is more than a decade old, but for me it's one of my day-to-day companions.

In recent years I have been testing various password managers, and until now I had always opted for the paid ones. However, at the beginning of the year I decided to give Microsoft Authenticator a try as a password manager, and I'm not considering changing it anymore. The app was originally created as a two-step verification system, but more recently it added the function of saving and synchronizing passwords between devices.

For work I use Chrome, and there is an extension that I use. For my personal stuff I use Microsoft Edge, and your passwords are directly implemented in the browser itself. For both Android and iOS, the Authenticator app is also a must-have, because when I try a new phone or reset it, it's a convenient way to always have them all at hand.
