Mobile telephony took first place as a means of communication between people years ago. What's more, nowadays you can use your smartphone to communicate in a thousand different ways: social networks, instant messaging like WhatsApp or Messenger, text messages, audios and videos...

All in all, the classic phone call is still there, and thanks to its lower prices and offers from operators, you can talk for hours at a relatively good price with friends, family, co-workers, etc.

Another advantage of the mobile phone over the landline phone is the possibility of installing applications to perform tasks, such as recording your calls. This way you can save a conversation in case you need to remember what was said.

Is it legal to record phone calls in Spain?

Below is a selection of apps for iPhone and Android that will help you save your phone calls as an audio file.

Best Call Recorder (iPhone)

Record incoming and outgoing calls in real time. This is the objective of Best Call Recorder, a free app for iPhone designed for meetings, interviews and other phone calls that you consider important.

Recordings are limited by the available memory on your iPhone. Of course, when the calls end, they will be uploaded to Google Drive or Dropbox, depending on how you configure the app. What's more, you can also share them on Facebook, WhatsApp, LinkedIn and other social networks, but keep in mind the legislation of your country so as not to commit a crime.

To use Best Call Recorder you will need to activate the application and then combine the ongoing call with the app. Otherwise, its only limitation is that the free version only allows you to listen to 60 seconds of recording.

Call Recorder Automatic (Android)

Record incoming and outgoing calls without time limit. Call Recorder Automatic has an automatic recording function for a list of specific phones so you don't have to press any buttons.

Among other things, you can listen to the recordings as soon as the call ends, organize the recordings, choose between several formats (MP3, M4A or OGG), export the recording in another application...

Call Recorder & Voice Memo (iPhone)

Record calls and retrieve them to listen or share. Call Recorder & Voice Memo works for both incoming and outgoing calls. Its operation is very simple, through the function of combining calls.

Although the app is free, some of its functions are paid by subscription. For the rest, together with the option to record the calls, you can also transcribe them to obtain a text with the complete conversation.

Call Recorder & Voice Memo also allows you to export conversations to, for example, save them in iCloud or Google Drive, rename them to better organize them, etc.

Automatic Call Recorder (Android)

With Automatic Call Recorder you can record phone calls manually or automatically, whether they are incoming or outgoing. Then you will have the opportunity to hear the result.

Among other functions, it is possible to upload the recordings to Dropbox or export them to other applications. Also, you can choose between several formats: MP3, AMR or WAV.

Automatic Call Recorder allows you to record all calls or only those from specific numbers. In the list of recordings you can mark the most outstanding ones and obtain information about them such as the duration or when they were recorded.

TapeACall (iPhone)

Similar to the previous applications, TapeACall allows you to record conversations and save them. Then you can upload them to the cloud (Dropbox, Google Drive) or export them to other applications.

Although the app can be tried for free, it works through monthly or annual subscriptions. It also allows you to transfer the recordings to other devices, play them in the background, label them to facilitate their organization...
