We show you how to free up RAM on both iOS iPhone and Android phone. Freeing up RAM is a simple and very useful process in some scenarios, and it can also be done on any mobile device.

RAM is the key to keeping your phone working, so we'll explain exactly what it's for and why it's worth unloading it as sometimes we can get obsessed with shutting down an app without knowing why.

What is the purpose of freeing up RAM

RAM is responsible for temporarily storing data on our phone and more specifically all data from applications and services that the system uses. In part thanks to RAM the system is able to manage multiple applications simultaneously but if RAM is low it will close the applications to broadcast priority of the one we use in the foreground.

Therefore, sometimes applications are closed when we play, use the camera, or perform another demanding task: the system is running out of resources and concentrating those left in the open application or process.

In both iOS and Android, RAM is managed automatically, but there is no perfect operating system. Sometimes we may want to free up memory manually, for which there are mainly three methods for Android and one for iOS.

How to free RAM on Android

If we have an Android device, we have two main ways (plus one extra) when it comes to keeping RAM at bay. The first is the most famous one: shutting down apps before multitasking. This is to shut down processes that are open and ready to go back. to them, using up the resources on our phone until we shut them down.

The second way we need to free up RAM is to force the application to stop in the settings. Sometimes it is not enough to close it from multitasking as it may happen that the application does not close completely. If we force a stop, the application will close anyway, which is a slightly more aggressive way to end a background process.

The third way is to eliminate the auto-launch of applications, which is present in some customization layers. To find out if our phone allows this feature, just write "auto-start" in the settings search and if it appears, we can block the auto-launch of some applications, saving memory RAM.

How to free up RAM on iOS

For iPhone, we will remove apps from multitasking to free up RAM as we can't force quit from settings. Apple devices, especially non-Pro versions, often run out of RAM when we open camera or strange game because in the market there are there are several iPhones with only 4 GB of RAM.

The most radical solution is to turn it off and then back on so that the processes that were in the background are closed when the device is turned off.
