Motorola Mobility is working on a new line of third-generation foldable Razr smartphones, according to a Weibo post from Chen Jin, Lenovo Mobile Business Group manager.

Jin noted in his publication that the hinge technology of the new folding device was developed by the Lenovo Research Institute and revealed that the phone would have a better processor, better user interface, and a better appearance.

For her part, Manuella Foz, a Motorola spokeswoman, responded to a request from The Verge that she "cannot comment on future devices."

This new generation of Motorola Razr cell phones will face fierce competition as other companies now roll out foldable devices. Samsung recently released the Galaxy Flip 3, which has a retail price of $ 1,000. Huawei will also launch its foldable P50 Pocket phone for $ 1,400.

Earlier, Motorola developed two versions of its Razr smartphone, the first of which was launched in 2019, being a technological innovation at the time, as it was the first mobile device to feature a flexible vertical screen whose clamshell design resembled the original phone design produced by the American company in 2004.

The second version, the Motorola Razr 5G, was released at the end of 2020, but has not been well received by the public due to several shortcomings in its operation and performance. To date, Motorola continues, though not continuously, to offer updates for this device whose operating system is based on Android.

In 2014, the Chinese technology company Lenovo bought the American company Motorola Mobility from Google for $ 2.91 billion.
