An important advantage of Android is that the user is not related to Google Play; if you want, you can install applications yourself or even entire stores. One of the most important alternative stores is the Samsung Galaxy Store, which while looking good, it turns out to be equally vulnerable for malware.

Android Police writer Max Weinbach posted on Twitter the result of a quick investigation he conducted on his cell phone, and it turns out that he started looking for various apps on the Galaxy Store and then searched for them on Google Play as well. at least 5 of them are potentially harmful, the Samsung store said absolutely nothing. Anyone who fully trusts the Galaxy Store can officially install malware without even knowing it.

How do you know these apps actually contain malware? Well, Android Police analyzed one of the APKs of these apps on VirusTotal and as a result at least a dozen alerts appeared regarding different types of malware such as riskware and adware.

Apart from these alerts, there are other issues. For example, some of these apps promise to offer free videos, but oddly enough, they ask for permissions they don't really need, such as full access to your contact list or calls. This shows that, at best, some of these apps they just want to explore you or put you wherever they don't care.

So far, Samsung hasn't commented on this, but research shows it needs to at least adopt a Play Protect-style system if it wants to legalize its store.
