If we focus on hardware, the name Huawei is usually associated with mobile telephony, but the manufacturer also has experience in the development of other devices, such as laptops.

Earlier this year, Huawei unveiled the Huawei MateBook 14, a device with a wide screen and multiple ports. Months later, the Huawei MateBook 14s, a model that the manufacturer has partnered with Microsoft to develop; This includes an Intel Core i7-11370H processor under the housing. Compact and premium design

When you take your Huawei MateBook 14s out of the box, the first thing that catches your eye is its large screen and how it's integrated with the rest of the case, and that Huawei has added a 14.2-inch panel in a very compact body. only 313.82 mm wide and 229.76 mm deep.

It is not a very light device (1.43 kg), but its construction feels solid, with good compaction work, which is common in laptops of this brand. Although there are two colors (green and gray) available, my test unit is Space Gray , also a Huawei classic. The device has an elegant, simple and minimalist design with rounded lines.

Coming back to the screen, it is a touchscreen LTPS with a resolution of 2520 x 1680 pixels with a maximum brightness of 400 nits, which allows us to work outdoors in high sunlight without any problems. it may be useful.

One of the aesthetic features of the MateBook 14s screen is that all the bezels that surround it (not too thick, but they are) are the same size, which gives it a lot of visual balance. The panel has an aspect ratio of 3: 2, so it is slightly taller than usual. which is especially appreciated in terms of productivity when we use word processors or spreadsheets.

As with the MateBook 14, Huawei integrates four speakers in this MateBook 14. Overall, it offers very good sound quality and no distortion even at the highest levels. One of the improvements we find on this model over the previous one is the positioning of the camera. the fact that the 720p webcam is in the top frame of the screen instead of being built into the keyboard (a very unfortunate place, especially if we have to make a lot of video calls and don't want to be worse off).

The backlit keyboard is very nice as the key travel is perfect for productivity, as is the sound of the keys. The same goes for the touchpad, which is large and responds quickly and accurately.

Performance

Inside this beautiful and solid case is an Intel Core i7-11370H processor along with 16GB of RAM and 1TB of SSD storage.Since I received this PC I have been using it to work and it works flawlessly in all settings.

Another improvement (inherited from the previous model) that made it easier for me to work with this is the integration of several ports so that I was able to connect all the peripherals I use on a daily basis (including the monitor as a second screen) without having to juggle with dongle keys like on previous models. There are in total two USB-C, Thunderbolt 4, USB-A, HDMI ports and an audio jack.

Battery life is another of its strengths: on a normal working day, when typing in web editors, using Photoshop and Office tools, and surfing the web a lot, the battery dropped by just 10 percent every hour. working I didn't have to charge it at any time because at the end of the day it arrived with a 20% charge anyway.

It includes a 90W charger, thanks to which I could charge the equipment from 30 to 90 percent during use. in just 45 minutes. Software-wise, the device ships with Windows 10 from the factory, but meets the upgrade requirements to Windows 11.

Conclusions.

This band is a great choice for those looking for a jewel in performance and have no problem paying € 1,499, which costs the version with 1TB of memory or € 1,299 for 512GB. For the price, you get a device with impeccable battery life, an excellent keyboard for work and a powerful processor with which everything runs smoothly.
