Huawei, Honor, and Motorola started introducing new high-end foldable phones, betting on the Chinese market, which is currently one of the most competitive when it comes to smartphones. Huawei developed its P50 Pocket, Honor christened it Magic V, while Lenovo focused on the phone with a flap called Razr: It's clear that these giants are moving en masse to produce leaflets.

Huawei, Honor and Motorola focus on folding

According to Bloomberg estimates based on IDC data, the smartphone market is expected to grow to 1.35 billion shipments in 2022, with new features such as 5G wireless will be key to winning customers.

Samsung, the industry leader, has been producing its range of foldable devices for several generations, which saw the best sales with the launch of the Galaxy Z Flip 3 last August. Major Chinese brands such as Xiaomi and Oppo introduced their own foldable devices this year. while the neighboring competitor Vivo also began to experiment with it.

Even Apple has considered this new smartphone category, even though the Cupertino company doesn't seem to have any plans to introduce them, at least for now.

Honor and Motorola are currently trying to climb the Olympus of global brands, and Huawei, for its part, is trying to organize a recovery after sanctions imposed by the Trump government. The most obvious consequence of this ban is the fact that the company's phones can no longer implement the Android operating system, which forced the giant to choose alternatives.

Apart from some minor difficulties, it already seems quite obvious that 2022 will be the year of smartphone folding.
