Honor unveiled its first high-end "smartphone" this Thursday in a new stage as an independent company from Huawei, the new Honor Magic3, with a high-end Snapdragon 888+ processor, the most powerful from Qualcomm, and access to Google services on its three models: the standard Magic3 , Pro and Pro +.

After a veto on Huawei, which prevents it from using Google services on its new devices from mid-2019, the Asian giant sold its young sub-brand Honor at the end of 2020 to be able to become independent and continue to use the services of Google and other American companies on The brand has already announced that it will return to the Spanish market in August with a new strategy, no longer focused on young people.

Honor held an online event this Thursday where it unveiled its new Magic3 worldwide, the first high-end terminal to appear in its new independent catalog - following the high-end Honor 50 series.

A NEW STRATEGY OF HONOR

George Zhao, Honor's CEO, recalled at the event that the Honor Magic series made its debut in 2016 as the first phone with artificial intelligence features, highlighting the "difficulties and challenges" the American veto posed to the brand.

Honor currently has 10,000 employees worldwide, more than half of the R&D department, and 100 laboratories responsible for more than 5,500 patents. The brand is committed to the further development of mobile AI, security, performance, photography, telecommunications, and design as a foundation.

The mobile catalog of the brand will begin by splitting into three families: on the one hand, the main Honor series, for example the new Honor 50; high-end honor magic; and finally, the mid-range Honor X.

The Chinese company also announced a new brand image under the slogan "Go Beyond" and new agreements with partners in more than 50 countries, including Spain, where Honor will once again be present around the world.

HONOR THE MAGIC 3

The new flagship Magic3 adopts a symmetrical design philosophy for its two models: the standard Magic3 and Magic3 Pro, both with the main camera surrounded by a circular golden section module.

Magic3 has a 6.76-inch OLED screen with 86º curved edges and only 0.55mm edge at the top of the bezel. It has a 120Hz refresh rate with 1.07 billion colors and support for HDR10 + and DCI-P3.

The device is certified to water and dust resistance IP68, immersed to a depth of 1.5 meters for 30 minutes. Its design is inspired by the "magic hour" of sunset and sunrise, when it is already night, but there is still natural light, in the colors of Blue Hour and Golden Hour Classic black and white versions have also been added.

At the performance level, the Honor Magic3 Pro works with the five-gauge Snapdragon 888+ chip, the most powerful in Qualcomm, with up to 3.0 GHz and a sixth generation AI engine with improvements of up to 30 percent over the previous multimodal neural networks, plus 5G data support.

Honor chose OS Turbo X as the phone system, with 12.6% faster latency than iPhone 12 Pro Max, and which protects performance for longer use. Only 3.8% performance reduction. after 36 months, while the average for Android is above 36%.

The Magic3 memory system can support up to 19 applications open simultaneously, compared to the average of 12 on Android. The GPU also delivers 5.4 frames per second faster than the iPhone 12 Pro Max at 53.9 and 0.5 degrees cooler.

The heat dissipation system adopts the hexagonal structure of graphene, which provides up to 50 percent higher temperature reduction.

The download speed from the phone can reach 6.1 Gbps with Wi-Fi 6, which is the highest value so far, according to the brand. Magic3 also offers a battery with a capacity of 4,600mAh, with support for 66W fast charging via cable and 50W wirelessly.

CAMERA

At the camera level, the Magic3 series offers a 50MP main camera of the Sony IMX 766 model in both models, with a pixel size of 1 / 1.56 inch and which has high dynamic range (HDR) portraits, a long exposure function for capturing, for example, the sky and macro mode .

The Honor Magic3 standard has a triple camera setup that also consists of a 13MP ultra wide angle lens and a 64MP monochrome sensor.

Honor Magic3 Pro has a quad rear camera that adds a 64MP periscope telephoto lens corresponding to a focal length of 90mm, and also provides a 3.5x optical zoom, 10x hybrid and a digital zoom that reaches 100x. The camera offers an 8x8 laser system. dToF, which enables fast autofocus.

The front camera, on the other hand, consists of two sensors perforated on the screen, with an ultra-wide angle of 100 degrees of view range and 3D features focused on facial recognition with a ToF lens. As for the rest of the features, Magic3 works with the Android based Magic UI customization layer, with three different ecology based themes and Honor song based ringtones in different styles.

It introduces three security features: a maintenance mode where confidential information is locked to protect the user while the phone is being repaired; removing photo information such as location being shared on social networks; and intelligent message hiding so that notifications of chats and calls are not visible while sharing the screen.

HONOR THE MAGIC3 PRO +

The series has a third member, a more premium version: Honor Magic3 Pro +, with a slightly different design of the rounded hexagonal camera module, with four image sensors.

Honor Magic3 Pro + offers a screen and body made of curved nanocrystals with greater resistance, depending on the brand. The back has textures created by laser in 54 processes, in two patterns, in black and white ceramics, with vertical stripes.

The quad camera consists of four main cameras: 50MP wide angle (Sony IMX 766), 64MP second monochrome, 64MP telephoto lens and 64MP ultra wide angle compared to the 13MP standard and Pro models. 8x8 ToF support, improved night mode and a combination of eight pixels in one.

Honor Magic3 Pro + is available in a single configuration with 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB for the price of 1499 euros.
